Oliver Salmon opened the scoring for Vale in the first-half, but Rovers hit back with a long range effort that eluded keeper Jordan Kelly.

The Rec then took the lead through the dangerous Alastair Chalmers, but again Rovers equalised to take the game into extra-time.

Man of the match Chalmers then won it at the death to break Rovers hearts after being put through and beating the keeper in a one-on-one.

The victory gives Vale's youngsters a league and cup double in an exciting end to the season.

NEW BOSS TARGETS TOP THREE FINISH
Posted on: Mon 17 May 2010

Former Vale Rec and Island player Carl Le Tissier, has taken over the reins from Phil Corbet as the Club's new head coach.

Le Tissier, as well as being Corbet's assistant to the first team last season, was also in charge of the club's youth and development sides, winning the Under 18 League and the Old Vic Cup with the U21s.

'It's a year earlier than planned' said a proud Le Tissier, 'but with the squad of lads
we currently have at Vale, the future looks good and I'm confident we will do well.
I will be looking for a top three finish next season.'

Le Tissier has gained the services of his former team mate Ian Ozanne, who has
agreed to return to the Corbet Field as his assistant, after taking a break from the
game.

Vale's secretary, Lester Forman said 'I'm delighted for Carl and it's great to see Oz
back at the Club. The plan was for Carl to take over from Phil after two years but he is ready.'

He was quick to point out that Corbet will still be heavily involved though. 'After discussing the way ahead with Phil, he has agreed to stand as Vice Chairman where he will oversee all the Club's football related matters and knowing his high standards, will continue to push the Club forward'.

VALE RECREATION WIN OLD VIC
Posted on: Tue 04 May 2010

Vale Rec's Under 21s beat rivals North after a strong second half performance.

Second half goals from Dave Hooper and Dave Cusack were enough to defeat rivals North 3-1 at Blanche Pierre Lane.

With keeper Andy Rumens ruled out through injury, Vale were forced to bring in reserves keeper Phil Frampton and
Rory Moriarty replaced a cup-tied Danny Ozanne in midfield.

Vale could have taken the lead as early as the fourth minute but striker Alex Masterton's shot was saved.

It was North who responded well in the early stages and deservedly went ahead on twenty minutes when, after the
ball was lost in midfield, keeper Frampton attempted to clear upfield only to see the ball rebound off a defender
and fly into his net.

This seemed to wake up the yellows and on the half hour mark, striker Cusack levelled the score with his first of the
evening following a fine run from defender Adam Dunn.

It was Vale who came out with more purpose in the second half and should have increased their lead but Masterton's
shot hit the post. Cusack then saw his shot hit the woodwork and midfielder Glenn Le Tissier attempted a long range
effort that flew over the bar.

With an onslaught of continuous pressure coming from the yellows, it seemed only a matter of time that they would
take the lead and Hooper went close on the hour mark when his shot was deflected for a corner. Two minutes later
Masterton had another shot saved but Hooper was on hand to tuck in the rebound to make it 2-1 to the Rec.

On seventy-five minutes, the North keeper again came to the chocolate and blues rescue with a good save off Cusack.
Le Tissier then had an effort cleared off the line.

Henry Carre replaced Hooper who had run himself into the ground five minutes from the end and Vale's hearts were in
thier mouths when two minutes into injury time, a North effort smashed against the crossbar, but immediately following
the scare, the ball was up the other end and Cusack hooked the ball in from close range to make it safe for Vale.

Vale Recreation: Frampton, Le Noury, Dunn, Robinson, Fletcher, Le Tissier, Moriarty, Moullin, Hooper (Carre),
Masterton, Cusack.

JERSEY WANDERERS WIN PORTSMOUTH TROPHY
Posted on: Sat 01 May 2010

Vale Recreation's U18s were no match for an excellent Wanderers team who fully deserved their
victory in the 'Junior Upton' at Springfield this afternoon.

"The best team won" conceded Vale's coach Carl Le Tissier, "we just didn't turn up today".

The Guernsey Under-18 champions found themselves 1-0 down after 21 minutes and it could have been more but for
some excellent work from young keeper, Andy Rumens to keep his side in the game at half time.

But, there was to be no change of fortune for the yellows after the interval with Wanderers carrying on where they
had left off and looking dangerous with every attacking move.

The Jersey champions scored a further three goals to finally take the game by an emphatic 4-0 scoreline.

Vale Recreation: Rumens, Stephens, Le Prevost, Dunn, Norman, Carre (Hanley), Le Tissier, Ozanne, Breban (Mollet),
Bodie, Masterton (J Renouf).

VALE RESERVES VICTORIOUS IN MAUGER CUP FINAL
Posted on: Wed 21 April 2010

Goals from Lee Ogier, Ant Austen, Mark Ogier and a brace from Dave Cusack secured a 5-0 victory over
Sylvans in the Mauger Cup Final at the Northfield this evening.

Vale were 1-0 up within five minutes courtesy of a Dave Cusack strike following a great ball from Lee Ogier.

With the yellow and greens pressing hard for a second, Sylvans found themselves down to ten men when Mark Ogier
was clean through on goal with only the keeper to beat but was tackled from behind. The resultant free kick lead to a
corner and Lee Ogier headed in to make it 2-0.

Four minutes later the game was effectively over when following another superb Lee Ogier pass, striker Cusack
slotted the ball past the keeper for his second.

Four minutes into the second half, Anthony Austen made it four from a Karl Bisson corner and the game was wrapped
up on 80 minutes when Mark Ogier scored the fifth following some Bisson magic on the Sylvans byline.

 VALE WIN LOVERIDGE CUP
Posted on: Sun 18 Apr 2010

Vale Rec's Under 18s were celebrating after beating North 4-1 to become champions and win the
J W Loveridge Cup this evening at Blanche Pierre Lane.

As in the previous game, Vale went into the interval 1-0 up thanks to a glancing header by striker Daena Bodie from
a Matt Renouf free kick but this time, didn't let their lead slip.

Vale came out fighting and were much more competitive in the early stages of the second half and got their reward
when the North keeper appeared to misjudge a cross from midfielder Danny Ozanne and parry the ball into his own
net.

Coach Carl Le Tissier then made a tactical substitution moving Bodie back into defence and bringing on pacey striker
Ross Hanley to join the hardworking Alex Masterton up front.

The duo immediately set about causing the North defence problems and Hanley soon put Vale 3-0 up when he
pounced on a goalkeeping error to steer the ball into an empty net.

He then made it 4-0 with a sweet left-footed strike into the bottom corner following more great work from his strike
partner.

North pulled back a late consolation goal with almost the last kick of the game but it was Vale who performed on the
night and will now face either Trinity or Jersey Wanderers in the Portsmouth Trophy, scheduled for Sat May 1st in
Jersey.

Vale Recreation: Rumens, Dunn, Norman (Hanley), Le Prevost, Stephens (Robilliard),  Le Tissier,
Renouf, Carre (Mollet), Ozanne, Bodie, Masterton

FINAL LOVERIDGE CUP GAME ENDS IN STALEMATE
Posted on Wed 14 Apr 2010

Vale Rec and North's Under 18s battled out a 1-1 draw in the final game of the Loveridge Cup
competition this evening at the Corbet Field.

The draw means a title decider will now take place to decide the champions.

In a game full of chances, Vale led 1-0 at the interval but North equalised ten minutes into the second half.

Neither teams seemed to have their striking boots on as both were guilty of failing to hit the target on a number of
occassions. But as the game went on, North found the young Vale keeper, Andy Rumens, in tremendous form, pulling
off a number of fantastic saves to keep his side in it.

It was the home side who got off to a flying start with striker Daena Bodie hitting the post after only three minutes.
Danny Ozanne then smashed a shot over the bar after being put through on goal by captain, Glenn Le Tissier.

Vale took the lead on ten minutes when left back Ollie Le Prevost sent over a superb cross for Bodie to head the ball
over the North keeper and into the net.

Soon after, midfielder Matt Renouf was put through by Henry Carre following a tremendous run from way inside his
own half but blazed over. The tide seemed to then turn in North's favour as keeper Rumens pulled off three superb
saves in quick succession.

The half ended with a rasping shot from Renouf cleared off the line following a corner.

The second half started as the first had finished with a North striker smashing a shot over the Vale bar after being
put clean through. Then Bodie hit a shot over after collecting the ball on the edge of the area and turning smartly.

Vale defender Bryce Norman was shown a yellow for a tackle from behind but the ball was headed wide from the
resultant free kick.

North's equaliser came on 58 minutes but Rec could have re-taken the lead three minutes later but striker Alex
Masterton shot wide following a defence-splitting ball from his strike partner Bodie. Ten minutes later North missed
another chance with a header that went wide and Rumens again came to Vale's rescue with another brilliant save.

Vale were forced to make two substitutions after both Renouf and centre back Adam Dunn limped off injured. They
were replaced by Luke Mollett and Ross Hanley. Hanley took up the centre forward role with Bodie dropping back
into defence.

Both teams continued to attack and North almost grabbed a winner at the death but Le Tissier headed off the line.

The sides will now meet again in a play-off to earn the right to face the Jersey Under 18 champions.

Vale Recreation: Rumens, Dunn (Hanley), Bryce, Le Prevost, Stephens, Le Tissier, Renouf (Mollet), Carre, Ozanne,
Bodie, Masterton

GUERNSEY ATHLETICS 2-3 VALE RECREATION
Posted on: Sun 28 Mar 2010

A penalty by Gareth Holden was enough to give Vale Recreation victory over Tics in their final game of
the season this afternoon. It was the teams' second meeting in a week but this one turned out to be
a much closer affair.

The game was switched to the Corbet Field after the KGV was deemed unplayable and at the interval, Vale were 2-0
up and cruising. However Tics came out all guns blazing and levelled the scores before Holden struck the winner
mid-way through the second half.

The 'away' side were forced to start the game with another change of keeper with John Purdy, back from the UK,
filling in for the injured Jody Bisson. Craig Tyrrell returned to take his place up front and Pete Guilbert, starting his
second game for the first team, dropped into the right midfield role.

As with the game four days earlier, both teams came out firing on all cylinders but it was Vale who drew first blood
with Tyrrell prodding the ball home from a Holden corner.

Five minutes later, the yellows were 2-0 up after the Tics keeper could only parry a fierce Mark Ramsden drive and
Tyrrell was on hand to slot the ball into the net.

After the interval, it was Tics this time who stepped up the pace, pinning Vale back in their own half and they soon
reduced the deficit when they were awarded a somewhat harsh penalty after the ball was smashed against Ross
Elliott's arm in the box. They were level five minutes later following more pressure on the Vale goal.

Coach Carl Le Tissier then made a couple of changes bringing on Mark Ogier for Guilbert and Glenn Le Tissier for
Marc Rihoy.

It was Vale who were then awarded their own dubious penalty on 77 minutes for a foul on Elliott and Holden smashed
the ball home to regain the lead and win the match.

Vale Recreation have finished the season, currently in a much improved fourth place, five points clear of Tics but who
have two games still to play.

Vale Recreation: Purdy, Shaw, Robinson, Elliott, Sarahs, Ramsden, Coquelin, Rihoy (Le Tissier), Guilbert (Ogier),
Holden, Tyrrell.

VALE RECREATION 2-1 GUERNSEY ATHLETICS
Posted on Wed 24 Mar 2010

Simon Shaw's first goal of the season secured a valuable three points for Vale Recreation this evening
at the Corbet Field.

The defender crashed home on seventy minutes to help Vale on their hunt to secure fourth place.

With striker Craig Tyrrell unavailable and midfielder Rory Moriarty suspended, first team debuts were given to Pete
Guilbert and Mark Ogier.

The game started off at a frenetic pace and after only three minutes, Vale were ahead. Gareth Holden whipped in a
near post corner and the Tic's keeper allowed the ball to pass him for Mark Ramsden to stab home his seventh goal of
the campaign.

However, Tics were level three minutes later when keeper Jody Bisson failed to deal with a high ball and could only
watch as the ball looped over him into the net.

The first half ended with a Guilbert strike going wide for the home side and a penalty appeal for handball failing
to impress referee George Jennings, who controlled the game well.

Vale were forced to make changes for the second half with keeper Bisson having to be replaced by midfielder Marc
Rihoy as stand in goalkeeper. Martyn Mouillin took up the vacancy in midfield but had to be substituted almost
immediately after sustaining a knee injury. He was replaced by fellow under 21 midfielder Glenn Le Tissier.

Vale took control of the game during the second half and justice was done when following a great move through
the Tic's midfield, the ball fell to an on running Simon Shaw who, without breaking stride, unleashed a twenty five
yard thunderbolt that flew into the net.

With the clock running down, Guilbert's impressive debut came to an end when he was replaced by striker Alex
Masterton.

Vale take on Tics again this Sunday in their final fixture of the campaign.

Vale Recreation: Bisson, Shaw, Robinson, Elliott, Sarahs, Ramsden, Coquelin, Rihoy, Ogier, Holden, Guilbert.
Subs: Moullin, Le Tissier, Masterton.

ROVERS 0-2 VALE RECREATION
Posted on: Sat 06 Mar 2010

Goals from Craig Tyrrell and Karl Bisson secured a 2-0 victory for Vale Recreation over Rovers
this afternoon at Port Soif.

Tyrrell slotted the ball home for the opener after twenty two minutes and Bisson doubled the lead three
minutes into the second half as the Rec extended their unbeaten run to five games.

Vale welcomed back Rory Moriarty into midfield after missing the previous two games through injury.

After a tentative start to the game, it was Vale who started to get on top and got their reward with a well
worked goal after twenty two minutes. Bisson picked up the ball in midfield and hit a superb pass to
Gareth Holden. Holden lashed the ball across the face of the Rovers' goal for his strike partner Tyrrell
to hit home at the far post.

Tyrrell turned provider three minutes after the break when he picked the ball up and crossed for Bisson this time
to crash the ball home to make it 2-0.

Vale continued to dominate and as the game drew to a close, substitutes Glenn Le Tissier, Danny Ozanne
and young striker Ross Hanley came on for Coquelin, Bisson and Tyrrell and it was Hanley who almost made
it three with his first touch, but his shot flew over the bar.

Ozanne then came close with a header from a Holden free kick and with three minutes left, Moriarty's
effort hit the bar following good work from Hanley on the right.

Vale Recreation: Frampton, Shaw, Robinson, Elliott, Sarahs, Ramsden, Coquelin (Le Tissier),

VALE RECREATION 1-0 ROVERS
Posted on: Tue 02 Mar 2010

Vale Recreation made it two wins on the bounce at the Corbet Field this evening.

A single strike early in the second half gave Vale a narrrow victory but it could have been more after chance
after chance seemed to go begging for the home side.

Geoff Robinson and Curtis Le Noury started for the injured Marc Rihoy and Anthony O'Regan and striker
Alex Masterton started in place of Craig Tyrrell (hamstring) with Gareth Holden up front.

With the game goaless at half time, Vale came out in the second half and immediately went 1-0 up with a
beautifullly worked goal.

Midfielder James Coquelin picked up the ball in midfield and sprayed it out to Mark Ramsden on the right flank.
Ramsden beat a defender and smashed the ball across the goalmouth for Karl Bisson to hit the ball goalwards only
to see the keeper pull off a fantastic stop. Bisson however, picked up the rebound and steered the ball into the net
from an acute angle.

Vale then piled on the pressure and had numerous chances to increase their lead. Masterton had two great
opportunities with a one on one well saved by the keeper and then hitting the bar.

Curtis Le Noury was replaced by Dave Cusack and Masterton made way for Tyrrell after 70 minutes and there was
to be no let up as Mark Ramsden twice went close, his second effort drawing a fantastic save from a rasping shot.

Tyrrell then slid in from close range only to see his effort sail over the bar and strike partner Gareth Holden went
wide following another Coquelin - Ramsden move down the right flank.

Cusack then whipped in a cross from the right which found Tyrrell but, with the goal at his mercy, the ball seemed to
get tangled up in his feet and the keeper saved.

After a frantic six minutes of injury time the ref blew to the relief of the home supporters and Vale had made it to
four games undefeated.

Vale Recreation: Frampton, Shaw, Robinson, Elliott, Sarahs, Ramsden, Coquelin, Bisson, Le Noury (Cusack),
Holden, Masterton (Tyrrell).

VALE RECREATION 2-0 SYLVANS
Posted on Sat 27 Feb 2010

Vale Recreation are now three games undefeated following their 2-0 victory over Sylvans at the
Corbet Field this afternoon.

A Gareth Holden penalty gave Vale a first half lead and centre-back Jason Sarahs ensured victory with a header
mid way through the second half.

Vale were again without keeper Jody Bisson, defender Anthony O'Regan and midfielder Rory Moriarty, all out
through injury. Substitute keeper, Phil Frampton came in for Bisson and Dom Page and Karl Bisson started for the
green and yellows.

Holden put away the penalty after 23 minutes when full back Simon Shaw went on a great run but was upended
in the penalty area.

On the half hour mark, Sylvans secured their own penalty when Karl Bisson was adjudged to have pushed over a
Sylvans player in the box but Frampton saved well to his right.

Page pulled up injured three minutes into the second half and was replaced by Curtis Le Noury.

On 71 minutes Sarahs headed in a Holden corner to make it 2-0 to the Rec and as the game drew to a close, coach
Carl Le Tissier withdrew his two strikers and put on youngsters Glenn Le Tissier and Alex Masterton.

Vale Recreation: Frampton, Page (Le Noury), Shaw, Elliott, Sarahs, Rihoy, Bisson, Ramsden, Coquelin,
Tyrrell (Le Tissier), Holden (Masterton).

ST MARTINS 5-5 VALE RECREATION
Posted on: Sat 20 Feb 2010

Vale Rec came away with a point from a rain sodden Blanche Pierre Lane this afternoon.

Goals from Marc Rihoy (2), Ross Elliott (2) and Jason Sarahs secured the point, their second in a week following
Tuesday's result against North.

The only change from the North game saw keeper Phil Frampton come in for the injured Jody Bisson.

Credit should go to both teams as the players battled with the rain soaked pitch making passing difficult to say the
least!

Vale found themselves 1-0 up when Rihoy headed in a Gareth Holden free kick early on but the Vale defense were
failing to cope with the Saints attack and soon found themselves 3-1 down. The yellow and greens continued to
battle and pulled a goal back courtesy of a great solo effort from Rihoy, his second of the game, just before the interval.

Vale then levelled the score when from a corner, the ball found its way to big defender Jason Sarahs, who smashed
in an unstoppable shot. Both teams were throwing everything at each other but it was the away side who grabbed
the lead with 20 minutes remaining through skipper Ross Elliott.

The lead was short-lived however as Saints took advantage of a goalkeeping error to equalise before taking the lead
once again.

With time running out it looked as if all of Vale's efforts were to be in vain, but they forced a corner seconds
from the end and it was Elliott who forced the ball in at the far post for his second to earn another hard fought point
for his team.

Vale Recreation: Frampton, Shaw, Elliott, Sarahs, Robinson, Ramsden (Ozanne), Moriarty, Coquelin, Rihoy,
Tyrrell (Masterton), Holden.

VALE RECREATION 2-2 NORTHENERS
Posted on: Tue 16 Feb 2010

Vale Rec put in a sterling second half performance to earn a point from Grand Fort neighbours North
in this hard-fought Division One derby.

After starting brightly, the Rec found themselves 2-0 down at the interval thanks to two defensive errors.

Craig Tyrrell pulled a goal back for the home side early in the second half and Vale's equaliser came following a
goalmouth scramble late on.

Geoff Robinson started the game, in for the work-tied Anthony O'Regan at left back, otherwise Coach Phil Corbet
was able to name a full side.

Vale showed their intent to take the game to North from the off by creating an opening inside the first minute but
Ramsden had his goal bound header cleared off the line.

Two more great chances quickly followed for the home side but it was North who drew first blood on 12 minutes
through Matt Loaring.

The chocolate and blues went 2-0 up after 25 minutes when the Vale defence failed to clear a cross and centre
back Sarahs could only watch as his attempted clearance flew past a helpless Bisson in the Vale goal.

Vale again came out fighting after the break and striker Tyrrell got his reward for a lot of hard work, poking the ball
home on 55 minutes. Strike partner Gareth Holden had a golden opportunity to level but dragged his shot wide and on
75 minutes, Holden put a free kick over the bar following a trip on Tyrrell.

Vale then threw on young striker Alex Masterton for midfielder Ramsden and with 5 minutes remaining, got the
equaliser following a goalmouth scramble which saw Tyrrell's header come back off the bar only to be bundled into
the net by North's Tostevin.

The home side had their keeper Bisson to thank for the point following two fine saves as North went on the attack in
the final minutes, blocking a rasping shot from out on the right and saving with his legs from Simon Tostevin.

Vale Recreation: Bisson, Shaw, Elliott, Sarahs, Robinson (Moullin), Ramsden (Masterton), Moriarty, Coquelin, Rihoy,
Tyrrell, Holden.

Posted on: Wed 10 Feb 2010

Vale's Under 18s made it three wins on the bounce in the Loveridge Cup this evening.

The game started brightly with both teams playing some good football but it was the home side who lead at the
interval thanks to a strike from Bryce Norman just before the half time whistle.

Three goals from Luke Mollet, Danny Ozanne and Adam Dunn effectively killed off Rovers shortly after the break.
The home side could have had five but captain Glenn Le Tissier blasted a penalty over the bar.

VALE RECREATION 1-2 ST MARTINS
Posted on: Sun 24 Jan 2010

A spirited second half performance from the home side was not enough to prevent Saints
taking all three points this afternoon at a bumpy Corbet Field.

Saints were 2-0 up at half time but Vale pulled one back in the second half with a strike from substitute
Curtis Le Noury and almost equalised midway through the second half but striker Dave Cusack pulled his
shot wide where a goal seemed a certainty.

Vale were without skipper Ross Elliott and striker Craig Tyrrell who were replaced by U21 players defender Geoff
Robinson and Dave Cusack respectively. There was also a debut for another U21 player, Matt Renouf who, came
on as sub in the second half. Centre back Jason Sarahs took the captain's armband in the absence of Elliott.

Saints started the game well consistently probing the Vale defence and got their reward of a goal after
15 minutes. Both teams were trying to play their passing game on a difficult surface but it was the Black
and Whites who looked the more dangerous. Midfielder Mark Ramsden was the first of four Vale players
to go into excellent referee Peter Davison's book after 25 minutes and shortly after, the Vale number 8
was forced to retire through injury, being replaced by Curtis Le Noury. Defender Simon Shaw and midfielder
James Coquelin were shown yellows as was keeper Jody Bisson, who was adjudged to have brought down
a Saints player 2 minutes from the interval, resulting in a penalty. This was converted and proved to be the
decisive goal.

5 minutes after the break, sub Le Noury picked up the ball on the right and smashed a shot into the net making
it 2-1. The goal seemed to lift the home side who were now threatening the Saints goal and with keeper Bisson
pulling off some fine saves, it looked as though Vale may get something from the game. They almost equalised
on 77 minutes but striker Dave Cusack pulled his shot agonisingly wide.

Cusack was replaced by debutant Matt Renouf on 85 minutes and there were chances at either end in the
closing stages with Vale's Gareth Holden going close from a free kick.

RANGERS U18S 0-8 VALE RECREATION U18S
Posted on: Sun 10 Jan 2010

Rangers were on the wrong end of a 8-0 score at the hands of Vale Rec after the game was
switched to the Corbet Field this afternoon.

Four goals from striker Ross Hanley and a brace from Danny Ozanne had Vale 6-0 up at the break and there was
no respite for the 'home' side as Ozanne and substitute Josh Renouf struck after the interval to secure the points
for the green and yellows.

Glenn Le Tissier was handed the captaincy for the opening game of the Under 18 League and along with Renouf,
Harry Stephens and Luke Mollet made appearances from the bench.

Vale went ahead on 19 minutes when following a great run midfielder Henry Carre delivered a low cross into the
box and Ozanne was on hand to prod the ball home. Hanley then got the first of his haul three minutes later when
strike partner Bryce Norman flicked the ball onto him and he smashed a left footed shot into the net. His second
came two minutes later after rounding the keeper and he completed his hat trick on 32 minutes after latching on
to a through ball and slotted the ball past the keeper.

Ozanne made it 5-0 on 40 minutes after more great work from the marauding Carre and it was Ozanne who fed
the ball to Hanley to notch his fourth and Vale's sixth goal just before half time.

The second half kicked off with Harry Stephens on for Tom King in defence. Vale carried on where they left off
and the chances came thick and fast. Le Tissier came close with an attempted lob over the keeper which sailed
just past the post. Carre had a shot deflected for a corner and Bryce Norman had a shot well saved.

Centre back Adam Dunn made way for striker Josh Renouf with Norman moving back to the defence and it was the
substitute who set up Ozanne for his hat trick. Renouf scored Vale's eighth following a brilliant move that saw
midfielder Matt Renouf sweep out the ball to Hanley who hit the bye line and crossed the ball for Renouf to tap in
from close range.

The impressive Carre made way for Luke Mollet on 65 minutes and the game ended with the Rangers replacement
keeper pulling off some fantastic saves to deny Hanley and Ozanne more goals to their tally.

CORBET FIELD TO HOST NLS CUP QUARTER FINAL

Posted on: Fri 08 Jan 2010

Senior Island Coach Tony Vance has urged Guernsey’s football public to back
his side as they continue their campaign to win the Carlsberg FA National League
System Cup next month.

The quarter-final tie against the Hertfordshire Senior County League will take
place at the Corbet Field on Saturday 13 February, with a 2pm kick off.

A victory would leave Guernsey just 90 minutes away from the cup final and the
chance to represent England in European competition next season. But, as
Vance pointed out, this could be the last time a local audience gets the chance
to see their team perform at home this season, and he wants a big crowd at the
Corbet Field. ‘We know that if we get a good crowd at the Corbet Field we can
create a great atmosphere down there,’ he said.

Vance recalled appearing for
the island in front of big crowds at the Corbet Field
during the 2003 Island Games.
‘That level of support really helps. The crowd
certainly played a huge part during our group games, and in particular the
semi-final and I am convinced that they were paramount in our success. ‘This is
a match of equal importance which
certainly warrants a big crowd and they
could make all the difference’
.

GFA Chairman Mark Le Tissier thanked the Vale Rec club for their assistance in
making the pitch available to the island side.

Vance expects to name his squad for the match within the next two weeks.

Vale lose out to solitary goal

Vale Recreation's run in the Somerset Senior Cup has come to an end after suffering a 1-0
defeat to Cutters Friday on Saturday.

The home side took the lead in the first half following a sweeping move and held on despite
increasing pressure from Vale in the second half.

Whilst disappointed to lose the game, Head Coach Phil Corbet was pleased with the all round
team effort and was looking forward to entering the competition again.

ST MARTINS 2-3 VALE RECREATION
Posted on: Wed 30 Dec 2009

A Dave Hooper penalty deep into extra time secured a place in the final of the
Old Vic Cup for Vale's Under 21 squad.

In a game that was somewhat controversally switched to the home side's training
pitch, the Saints drew first blood but Vale levelled when the ball fell to Curtis Le Noury
who prodded home from close range.

The Saints keeper was then sent off for lashing out at Vale's Martyn Moullin after a
50-50 challenge and his replacement's first job was to pick the ball out of the back
of the net. Vale's left back, Matt Breban collected the ball at the half way line and
unleashed a thunderbolt that sailed over the keeper giving the Yellows the lead.

10-man Saints fought back however and soon equalised with another spectacular
strike - a 20 yard free kick that flew into the net.

The second half by comparison was disappointing with both sides unable to produce
the type of football played in the first 45 minutes and guilty of missing some gilt edge
chances.

The game went into extra time and Vale started to find their feet again but it was
not until 5 minutes from the end that the decisive moment came. With the ball struck
into the Saints' penalty area the ref spotted a handball and awarded Vale a penalty.
Dave Hooper picked up the ball and calmly struck it into the net to give the Rec a
3-2 victory and a place in the Final.

O' Regan and Martyn Moullin was also unavailable.

VALE REC 5-2 ROVERS
Posted on: Thu 17 Dec 2009

A late rally from Vale's Under 16s with three goals in the final five minutes ensured
victory over Rovers at the Corbet Field this evening.

Playing against the wind the home side found themselves one down after five minutes
but against the run of play, equalised when Michael Tostevin's cross from deep on the
left sailed over the Rover's keeper and into the net. Rovers again took the lead only
to see Vale draw level in the second half when the Blue's keeper mysteriously let a
Tostevin shot roll past him only to see the ball creep past him and into the goal.

With the game looking as if it was heading for a draw, Vale's skipper Luke Mollet,
who seemed to be everywhere in the closing stages, smashed in a superb strike
from outside the area with five minutes remaining to give the Yellows the lead. He
added his second within a minute with another fifteen yard strike and substitute
Josh Renouf completed the scoring two minutes from time.

BELGRAVE WANDERERS 4-0 VALE RECREATION
Posted on: Sat 12 Dec 2009

Three quick-fire goals from Bels and island striker Dave Rihoy took the wind out of
a Vale side who, for thirty minutes had more than matched the league leaders. "How
on earth can we be three down" said Vale's Assistant Coach Carl Le Tissier as his
team left the field at half time.

The simple answer is Bel's prolific striker had three opportunities at goal and netted
all three! His second a fantastic lob over Vale's keeper Jody Bisson.

Vale came out after the break and carried on asking questions of the league leaders
but with the damage done in the latter stages of the first half, Bels soaked up the
pressure and added a fourth fifteen minutes from time.

smashed in a left footed shot only to see Frome equalise immediately following
the re-start. Vale went ahead again courtesy of a brilliant 25 yard pile driver from
Marc Rihoy five minutes from half time.

The game was effectively killed off when Vale got their third two minutes into the
second half when a Frome defender turned a Karl Bisson cross into his own net.

Holden completed the scoring with a fantastic overhead kick after Rory Moriarty's
header came back off the Frome crossbar.

Assistant Coach, Carl Le Tissier paid tribute to his team after the game. "That

ST CLEMENT 1 - 4 VALE RECREATION
Posted on: Sun 02 Aug 2009

Two clinical finishes from striker Gareth Holden ensured victory for Vale in Jersey.

In the first of their pre-season friendly matches, Vale found themselves a goal down after five minutes
after failing to clear their lines during a goalmouth scramble. Vale however, soon found their feet and
Holden drew a fine save from the St Clement keeper. Holden whipped in the resulting corner and
defender Ross Elliott crashed the ball home to equalise on fifteen minutes.

Elliott then saw a header from another corner sail inches over the bar five minutes later. Vale were now
playing some fine football and on twenty seven minutes, Holden smashed an unstoppable shot to give
the Rec. the lead. Three minutes later, following a 'training ground' move, Holden produced a pin-point
cross from the left and his strike partner Daena Bodie drove the ball in to further extend Vale's lead.
Bodie then drew another good save from the Jersey Club's keeper and Peter Guilbert went close from
the resulting corner.

The second half started with defender Neil Sarahs going close from another corner and Holden had
another shot well saved. On the hour mark, Holden smashed in his second of the afternoon to take the
game beyond St Clement. As the game drew to a close, the St Clement keeper denied David MacNab with
a fine double save.

In the Under 14 friendly played earlier in the day, Vale Rec's Jared Alexander scored both goals in an
entertaining 2-2 draw with St Clement Under 14s.
