Vale Recreation surrendered a 1-0 lead late on as Rovers held the Rec
to a 1-1 draw at the Corbet Field this evening.

David Hooper's late strike looked to have claimed a scrappy victory but Rovers
struck back in the 83rd minute from a corner.

With Gareth Holden still nursing an injury, Hooper came in for the only change
from the line up against Tics.

Holden's strike partner Craig Tyrrell, midfielder Rory Moriarty and Dave Cusack,
all returning from injury, took their places on the bench.

Rovers showed their danger within three minutes, with two strikes on the Vale
goal that sailed over the bar.

Then it was Vale's turn as first, Danny Ozanne had a shot saved and then left -
back, Geoff Robinson had his shot saved after a brilliant piece of work from Marc
Rihoy.

Skipper Ross Elliott then blasted a free-kick from the edge of the box into the wall.

Hooper should have scored on 27 minutes when following good work from Bisson
in closing down a defender, he managed to whip the ball across the goal but with
the Rover's keeper beaten, the stretching Hooper saw his effort go agonisingly
wide.

The second half started as the first with three Rovers efforts in the opening five minutes.

The first effort was blasted wide and then Vale's keeper was forced into a fantastic
stop from another goal-bound strike before Elliott cleared off the line from a corner.

Vale made their first substitution with Glenn Le Tissier replacing Rihoy in midfield.

Larkin then saw his effort cleared and Ozanne had a curling effort saved.

Holden then came on for Bisson and Tyrrell replaced Benfield as coach Carl Le Tissier
went for the win.

The subs almost repaid Le Tissier when Holden whipped in a dangerous corner but
Tyrrell just hooked wide.

Holden and Tyrrell immediately linked up again to force another corner and this time
Sarahs flicked on Holden's corner and Hooper blasted in from the far post to make it
1-0 in the 78th minute.

But Rovers were level five minutes later from a corner when Vale's keeper failed to
clear under pressure.

Bisson kept Vale in the game however with another fine save following a Rovers break
late on.

Coach Le Tissier will be heartened that he has both Tyrrell and Moriarty back from
injury when Rec face Bels at the Corbet Field in a week's time.
