Vale Recreation moved up to second place in the FirstRand Division
One with an excellent 2-1 victory at Northeners on Wednesday
evening.

The Rec had to wait until two minutes from time to claim victory, with
substitute Curtis Le Noury the eventual matchwinner at the Northfield.

North's Nigel Hutton opened the scoring after 4 minutes but Vale hit back to
equalise on the stroke of half-time through Gareth Holden before Le Noury
struck in the final minutes to win it.

Coach Carl Le Tissier was without striker Craig Tyrrell and captain
Ross Elliott, both injured, for the trip to the Northfield and David Hooper
was work-tied.

North opened the scoring inside the first five minutes when Hutton, who
seemed to be standing in a clear off-side position, side-footed the ball home,
but the goal was given much to the astonishment of almost everybody in the
ground!

From that point, Vale gradually got back into it and started to gain control
playing some excellent football on a somewhat bumpy pitch.

Holden saw an effort go wide and young Danny Ozanne blazed a couple of
efforts over the bar before Holden bagged the equaliser.

Karl Bisson found Holden unmarked with a superb free-kick and the Vale
striker made no mistake, smashing in a shot across the North keeper into
the far corner.

Both sides came out battling after the interval and it was North who could
have re-taken the lead through Hutton, but the crossbar came to Vale's
rescue.

At the other end Bisson blasted a volley narrowly wide and Sean Mills, on
for Benfield, saw his shot go agonisingly wide.

It was then the turn of the other sub, David Cusack who was shaping up to
shoot but was tackled superbly by Jack Domaille, all this after a Vale chance
was cleared off the line.

But it was the third substitute who earned his Club the spoils. On for left-
back Simon Shaw, who had picked up a strain, Le Noury finished off a
quite excellent attacking move, itself involving all three subs.

Le Noury picked up the ball at left-back and played it into Cusack who in turn
found Mills. Le Noury had kept his run going and was found by Mills before
coolly finishing with a shot under the on-rushing Tom Creed.
